Service Description

The seasons are changing. It’s time to start slowing down and embracing there Autumn. Autumn is a time for balancing, a time to see everything as a part of the big picture. The days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder. This is a time for rest, renewal and sleep. This is a time to turn the attention inwards, listening to the inner teacher of your heart, to your Y-intuition. The energy of the earth turns inwards at this time. Young plants and trees will grow stronger over the winter as their roots grow deeper. Autumn is a perfect time to connect your roots down into the ground and draw on some of that energy from the earth. The first class back after Summer break we will focus on the Lungs and Large intestine. The element in Metal, the colour is White and the emotion is Courage. Known as the tender organs we can experience both the imbalance of long held grief and the attribute of gratitude. Balancing our lungs clears and harmonises our Lung Qi (energy), mobilises any long-standing sadness and increases our bodies immunity and creates a calm confidence, with truthfulness and integrity. Think of the trees in Autumn shedding old dead leaves to allow new fresh growth come springtime, with trust and ease. Physically, the Lungs receive the air that we breathe and also get rid of waste products. Energetically they receive Chi or energy and connect us spiritually. The Large Intestine gets rid of what we no longer need, physically and mentally/emotionally. So you could say the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians are about letting go, like the trees let go of their leaves in autumn, to create compost for the next spring and move forward to the next cycle. Emotionally the Lung Meridian is about grief - feeling it when appropriate and processing and letting go. It’s also about courage and reverence - appreciating the beauty and the spiritual side of life. Mentally we’re talking about tenacity and endurance the energy to finish what you’ve started and keep on going. Confidence, clear thinking and seeing connections. In this practice, we focus on the ability to let go as we centre ourselves on the autumn season. The metal element corresponds with the lung and large intestine meridians, so we draw much inspiration from that as we work deeply into the shoulders and chest in this practice. Class is followed by a Nourishing Yoga Nidra.
